For some reason, I’ve held myself back from any Glossier purchase since the launch. Late last year, I finally bit the bullet and did a haul. I got two tubes of Glossier balm dotcom, Wowder, milky jelly cleanser and boy brow. I’m not ready to do a full review yet but here are some of my quick thoughts on the balms.
Glossier Balm Dotcom in Cherry🍒
This universal skin salve is LOVELY. My primary concern however is chapped lips so I only got the tinted ones. I love the cherry candy smell and the barely-there stain it leaves on your lips. Obviously, the stain doesn’t last long but the moisturising effect stays on all day.
I usually use Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask while I do my day makeup and blot heavily once done, but the balm made my lips super soft and happy the ENTIRE DAY. The thicker-than-most lip balm texture does take some time to get used to.
Glossier Balm Dotcom in Birthday🎂
I only got this because it’s supposed to smell like birthday cake, and it does! According to the Glossier site, this was inspired by Momofuku Milk Bar’s iconic dessert of the same name – I tried it when I was in Vegas and it was MAJOR YUMS. However, I’m not a fan of the clumsy 2000s glittery speckles finish. It also irritated my lips the first time I used it (strange, because I’ve had no issues with Cherry and they have the same ingredients). The smell is super addictive, and I use this on days when I don’t need much colour on my lips. I still blot to take out most of the glitter though.
While both Glossier Balm Dotcom balms contain Castor Seed Oil, Beeswax, Cupuacu Fruit Extract, as well as Rice Bran and Rosemary Leaf extracts to nourish and moisturise lips, Birthday also includes Lanolin. They are paraben and cruelty free.
